The district surrounding 15th Khordad street used to be the heart of trade before the nineteen fifties. Its original name was Buzarjomehri, named after General Karim Buzarjomehri, who served as Tehran municipal from 1923 to 1933. During Buzarjomehri’s service the streets architectural features, more importantly, its passages were changed. General Buzarjomehri segregated the front of each zone by constructing new routes and allowing coaches to pass easily in between the area.

Explore eastern European architecture on 15th Khordad street

City Courthouse: Stone and marble façade on the City Courthouse structure captures the eye of new visitors in their first glance. Czechoslovak-Iranian company won an auction and they founded the City courthouse in 1936. The construction of the City Courthouse plan by Stanislav Sůva had a four-year pause on its way to being built because of World War II. Qavam os-Saltaneh, 19th prime minister of Iran, finally opened this building in 1946.

Shamsol Emareh: Do you want to see Iranian Architecture opposed to the cooperative approach the City Courthouse took? Dost Ali Khan Moayer Ol Mamalek was the architect and the builder behind these multi-store structure. He approached design with precise symmetry in every detail so that he could build the highest twin towers at the time. Moayer Ol Mamalek used all the elements of Iranian architecture in Shamsol Emareh and gifted the building to Nassereddin Shah.

Ethnographic museum or Abyaz Palace

On your visit to 15th Khordad street, you shouldn’t neglect Abyaz Palace-A, part of the Golestan complex. This is a Museum of Anthropology and right from the start, Nasser ed Din Shah filled it with gifts from Abdul Hamid II of Turkey and other monarchs. Imam Khomeini mosque (shah mosque)

Now to the heart of Persian hand made tiles where you can truly see handcrafted turquoise and pure soft orange in an unbelievable arrangement. Fath-Ali Shah Qajar ordered the construction of Shah Mosque and he marked it as the official start of his reign. You can go around the Grand Bazaar of Tehran and find your way from north routes or the south to this location. Melli Bank

See the Melli Bank on 15th Khordad street, a sight which many Iranians waited a long time for. By the consistent endeavours of Amināl-Zarb, a major stockholder in Tehran at the time, this organization was founded. It was constructed around 140 years ago. Nowadays this building is still a very active branch and remains as a part of Meli Bank headquarters.

Sharf e Eslami: This restaurant is a part of history and is located near the shah masque. If you ever wanted to try a very delicious Tahchin then this is the place to go. This restaurant was founded in 1317 Shamsi year.

Moslem: Do you fancy various Iranian side dishes?  As soon as you enter Moslem restaurant you get to choose your own side dishes coupled with the warm hospitality of the staff. Shamshiry: Is a more stylish restaurant your first choice? Shamshiry is the one for you! This restaurant was named after Hassan Shamshiry, an affluent man with a creative business mindset. He founded this restaurant more than 100 years ago. Here you can order Kofte Tabrizi and Shami Pook as appetisers – two dishes from two different cities of Iran.

Panzdah Khordad and Imam Khomeini metro stations are the closest public transportation. Either stations puts you in the right place on 15th Khordad street. From there you can visit the sites by coaches or enjoy the walk on the cobblestones of this street.
